An automatic profanity filter for video and audio

A filter you set, not one set for you

Profanity filter usually means one of two things. One is a live filter, in a browser extension or a chat setting, that catches words as they happen; Redactify is not that, and it does not work on live streams or calls. The other is a filter you run over a finished recording to produce a clean version, and that is what this is: upload a video or audio file, decide what counts as profanity for your audience, and download a copy with those words bleeped, muted or replaced, and optionally the speaker's mouth blurred.

The deciding part is what makes it a filter rather than a blunt instrument. Words are grouped into nine categories in three groups: profanity (common swearing, light profanity, slurs, sexual content, religious terms), demonetisation risks (violence and harm, sensitive topics, drugs and substances) and platform-specific extras. Each is its own switch. A family channel might turn on all nine; a comedy podcast might want only slurs; a gaming channel heading to YouTube wants the YouTube Ad-Friendly set, which is a preset that flips the right switches for you. Pro accounts can add their own words to catch, and a whitelist of words never to catch, which is how a brand name or a regional word that trips a list stays in.

Underneath, the file is transcribed word by word, each word is checked against the categories you chose, with common endings and multi-word phrases handled, and every catch is listed with a timestamp before anything is downloaded. English is the most accurate; Spanish, French, German and Portuguese are in beta.

What about false positives?

Every catch is listed before download; untick one and it stays in. On Pro, add the word to a whitelist and it is never caught again.

Can it filter slurs only?

Yes. Pick just the Slurs category and nothing else is touched.

What languages are supported?

Multiple languages. English is the most accurate; Spanish, French, German and Portuguese are in beta.

Can I filter audio files too?

Yes. MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC and AAC, at 1 credit a minute.
